What is BLAST?
Bible Learning And Spiritual Training. BLAST is a fun filled hour of worship and activities that teach bible stories and help children to apply the biblical principles to their lives. We have a team of adult leaders that lead each hour.

BLAST Goals & Rules
In BLAST we ask all kids and leaders to follow three simple rules:
- Respect – respect church property and equipment and show respect for our leaders
- Wisdom – make good decisions while in BLAST, let’s listen and obey our leaders
- Grace – show kindness, let’s show grace to others just as God has shown grace to us
We ask that all kids follow these rules. If a child has a hard time, following the above rules we will notify the parent and try to work on a solution for better obedience in BLAST.
The bottom two building blocks in BLAST are:
- Destiny – we teach every kid that God has a plan for their life
- Perspective – we want every person to have a biblical worldview, to see life as God does and do our best to live as He wants us to
Parent CUE Box
At the beginning of each unit (every month) we encourage parents to pick up or purchase their parent CUE box. They are made with you as a parent in mind. We encourage every family to use them during the week to help families live out the BLAST lessons. What is in the CUE box? Every CUE Box features:
A DVD with an original 15-minute production from the CUE Box cast and music video of this month’s virtue song.
A personal-sized virtue movie poster kids can hang on the wall, the fridge or use as a book cover. Turn it over and there’s a Bible story that parents and kids can read together and discuss at bedtime
A mystery widget designed to help parents and kids interact as they look for ways to put the virtue into action.
Five collectible cards with illustrations and cool facts related to the Bible stories the child is learning at church.
And there’s MORE! Every CUE Box offers a family full access to the www.studio252.tv website. This site is filled with videos, music, games and other tools that will give your family opportunities to laugh and learn together. BLAST Parent Challenge
We have goals in mind for our children as they grow up (intentional or unintentional), but if we want them to be godly young men and women; we have to lead them in that direction.
If you want your child to be a great baseball player; you would have them play on a team, practice all the time, take them to watch big league baseball, buy them good equipment, etc. But what if you want your child to be a godly young man or woman? What do you do? Go to church? Is that enough to lead your child to be godly?
The bible teaches us in Deuteronomy 6 that the parents are to pass on their faith in God to their children. We are to do so as we get up, as we walk throughout our day, and as we lie down at night. I believe one of the greatest things we can do with our children is have a weekly time together of learning God’s word. Our challenge to you is to begin implementing a weekly family time devotional in your home. This is the reason we encourage families to use the CUE boxes to help every family begin teaching their children the bible at home. We believe that what happens at home is more important than what happens at church.
We pay $60 - $100 to sign our kids up for soccer, piano lessons, basketball, etc. Why not make an investment in family time and get some tools to help you teach your kids biblical truths in a fun way. The CUE box is a great tool to get your started in the right direction. Click here to purchase or subscribe to receive the monthly CUE boxes www.whatisorange.org (click on store). Family Milestone Events
CBC Kids also sponsors several milestone events to celebrate in the life of your children. Here is a short description of those events.
Baby Dedication
Parents are challenged before the church family to raise their children according to God’s Word. Parents are given a gift basket with some helpful tips on beginning the journey of raising godly children. Parents contact the church to setup and arrange for the baby dedication.
The Blessing
Parents of 3 & 4 year olds are given a family blessing pack that gives examples of how to pray daily with your children. Parents are encouraged to continue or to begin praying daily with their children. This event is a lunch meeting held in November. Contact church for exact date.
Kindergarten Parent Day
All parents of Kindergartners are invited to join us for BLAST on this special day. Parents join us for the opening worship time and then take part in an interactive parenting class about BLAST. It is held the Sunday morning after Adventure Week each June. Children are promoted after Adventure Week each year.
3rd Grade Bible Challenge
Third graders and their parents are invited to join us for a special day. During the first hour, parents meet to make bible covers, write personal notes to their children, and to get some tips on how to get their children to begin reading the bible everyday. During the second hour parents and children join us on stage for a special time of parents giving the new bibles to their children as we challenge them to begin reading God’s Word everyday. Parents are invited to join us at 9:30am for the parent fellowship and the presentation of bibles takes place during the 11:00am worship service.
Baptism
If a child makes a decision to accept Jesus, we like to meet individually with each child and their family. Pastor Tommy will give each child a workbook called “Now That I’m A Christian.” This devotional tool helps parents and children understand what it means to be a “Christian.” Parents may schedule their child’s baptism after meeting with Pastor Tommy or another pastor on staff.
5th Grade SMAC
Sunday Morning After Church – SMAC are special events for 5th graders only. We have lunch after church and then take field trips for the afternoon. We discuss one of our five BLAST stones (Respect, Wisdom, Grace, Destiny, and Perspective) at each SMAC event. Parents can pick up a permission slip for more detail about each event.
